In England it is very rare to have hot weather, so when the sun finally arrives I love to make the most of it. I thought I would do a blog post about my summer day essentials, spent in the garden.
Before stepping outside I make sure I have put suncream on. I like to use Ultrasun as I find it really protects my skin from burning, as I am very fair. The two suncreams I use are:
Very High Protection Face Sun Cream for Ultra Sensitive Skin SPF50
Ultrasun SPF 50 Sports Transparent Sun Protection Spray
I then head outside and find a comfy blanket that I can put on the ground, as it is far more comfortable than sitting straight onto the grass. This blanket is one that my parents have had for years and it’s so comfortable to lie on.
One of my favorite things to do on a summer’s day is lay down on a blanket a read a good book. I find it is so relaxing and a great way of escaping all the technology that is now ruling our lives. A glass of water is essential and I always make sure I have one with me as it is so easy to get dehydrated in hot weather. I have recently tried drinking water with ice and frozen lemon & lime, and love it. This drink is so refreshing and it is incredibly healthy as it supplies vitamin C, and acts as a detox agent while supplying a cool and refreshing kick to regular water, which is always a bonus.
Sunglasses are an absolute essential on a sunny day, they protect your eyes and are also an amazing accessories. When buying sunglasses, make sure they have UV protection and are scratch resistant. These may be slightly more expensive but will definitively protect your eyes and last longer. I also like to always have a notebook nearby as I like to note down my ideas and thoughts before I forget them. When I am relaxing in the garden it gives me time to think and thats normally when i start writing stuff down.
Summer is one of my favourite times of the year and this blogs gives you a little insight into how I like to enjoy it, and what I can’t live without on a hot summers day. What is you favorite thing to do in the summer? Have you got any essentials?
