One of my favourite parts of Christmas is decorating our Christmas tree and choosing all the decoration to go on it. If you like to go out and pick up some new Christmas decorations every year then it can be quite confusing trying to choose which theme to go for. To make it a bit easier I have chosen two styles of Christmas trees and have found similar decoration to those on the trees. Hopefully this will give you an idea of how to recreate a Christmas tree theme you love and I have listed great shops to check out for Christmas decorations.
Simplistic White and Rose Gold Christmas Tree
If you are looking for a very simple Christmas tree theme that will go with anything then this is a great option for you. These decorations are made up of white and rose gold baubles, white stars and cool white fairy lights.
So to start off with you need to put fairy light on the tree and then you put the decoration on. You can get fairy lights from most shops, these two are from John Lewis but you can also get them from Home Base, Matalan, B&Q and many other retailers. This tree has cool white lights, meaning they look white where as warm white will look more yellow and feel warmer in your room.
Moving onto baubles (starting from top left):
John Lewis Helsinki Shatterproof Baubles, tub of 20 £7.50
John Lewis Ostravia Glass Baubles, Champagne, Box of 42 £20
John Lewis Snowshill Spun Glass bauble, clear £4
John Lewis Snowshill Bauble with Feathers, clear £3.50
The White Company Porcelain Heart and Start, White, set of 6 £12
When choosing these Christmas decorations I looked for very simple pieces and others that had very subtle details on them. I would decorate the tree with the two mixed boxes of baubles first, making sure they are evenly spread around the tree. Then start adding in the while baubles and stars, bring an element of white to the tree. I would also use the hearts and maybe some white painted pinecones too just to add some more variety of decorations without disrupting the white and rose gold theme. The amount of decoration you put on your tree will depend on the size of your tree but also on your personal preference. This style of tree is quite minimal and if you want to follow this example then be quite sparing with you decoration and concentrate on where you are putting them.
Red and White Themed Christmas Tree
This Christmas tree is a gorgeous mix of red and white baubles giving it a really festive feel. If you like to have a mix of different decorations on your tree then this style if more suited for you. There is no real organization of decoration on the tree but it still looks very thought about.
John Lewis Ruskin Home Glass bauble, Red, box of 42 £20
John Lewis Chamonix Christmas Script Bauble, Red £4.50
Notonthehighstreet.com Large Whimsical Fairy Hanging Christmas Decoration £12
John Lewis Chamonix Stocking Tree Decoration, Red/White £3.50
Candy Cane
John Lewis Charmonix Glitter Bauble, White/Red £4.50
John Lewis Charmonic Layered Snowflake Tree Decoration, Red/White £3
John Lewis Charmonix Ice Skating Boots Tree Decoration £5
For this tree design, I chose some decoration that are similar to the original but you could pick whatever you wanted. I think it helps to get a set of either red or white bauble and use as a base colour to work with. Then start adding your red and white patterned baubles and decorations on the tree. You can add as many as you like as this design is a lot fuller than the first one. I think it looks really nice when you have some very different decoration like the ice skating boots or a mini stocking. To finish off the tree you can add some edible or ornamental candy canes.
Hopefully, this will give you some inspiration if you are stuck on how to decorate your Christmas tree this year. If you are really stuck then go into a store like John Lewis, Matalan or Marks & Spencer and have a look through their decoration. Whatever catches you eye and you love then get it, you don’t have to go for a theme it sometimes just helps. Don’t forget my blog to keep up to date with my blogmas post, yesterday’s was Beauty Christmas gift Guide.
