Christmas & Homeware Decorations

I absolutely love decorating my home when Christmas comes around and make it feel lovely and festive. So this post is going to show you different ideas of how you can decoration you home with some alternative options as well.

Festive Wreaths

A lot of people choose to hang wreaths on their door or have them as a centrepiece on their table with a candle inside them, but what type do you choose? Traditionally a wreath would be made from branches of a Christmas tree, berries, holly leaves and pinecones entwined in it.

Some people don’t like the look of a very heavy traditional wreath so I have come up with some alternative green wreaths. It used to be a tradition that you hung mistletoe above your door and you had to kiss your loved one under it. Using this traditional idea in a different, you could have a wreath made out of mistletoe instead. I found this lovely one online and it looks so fresh and festive. If you are looking for a very simple wreath then a eucalyptus wreath is a beautiful option too and could also be used during the winter months if you want more use out of it. All the wreaths I choose can be bought as either real or artificial , all depending on your budget and what look you are going for.

When it comes to decorating your home for Christmas I think picking pieces that you can use year after year is a lovely thing to do. I have chosen a few pieces that are small but have a Christmas/Winter feeling to them. Garlands are a great way to decorate a mantle piece, table or ever bookcase as it adds a touch of green into your home. I also love putting up fairy lights, making a room feel really magical. Lots of retailers have light up letters in white, red, gold which you can use to spell out festive words like Joy, Noel, Love, Believe. This is a lovely way of creating a focal point in a room and also adds some lighting in the evenings.

Moving away from artificial light lets talk about candles and tea lights. There is something very magical and homely about having a candle or a tea light lit in your home. I have picked out two tea light holders that are gorgeous and would look lovely in any home. It’s a beautiful way of holding tea lights and creating a beautiful wintery scene. When it’s dark outside the tea light will reflect the scenery onto the wall making a really lovely effect.

I like to make the whole flat feel festive so I’ve picked out a few things I think really help make your bedroom feel Christmasy. Starting off with duvet sets, if you are looking for really affordable gorgeous festive duvet covers than have a look at George Home. The two I picked out are lovely and festive but in a subtle way and they are also both reversible. You can get these duvets in bed sizes from single to super king and they are all under £20, which is a great price.

Another shop I love for Christmas homeware is Matalan. I’m obsessed with the Merry Christmas Pillow, it would look really cute on your bed or even on a sofa. It also adds a pop of colour and is a beautiful design. Finally, there is nothing better than snuggling under a fluffy blanket at Christmas and I love the Fairisle fleece thrown from Matalan. It is so soft and the colours are really festive.

So these are my top home inspirational pieces for Christmas this year. If you have any homeware pieces that you have recently bought and love then let me know bellow. Make sure you have caught on my other Blogmas posts and a new post will be up tomorrow.

Merry Christmas, Steph x
