Festive Nail Varnishes

When Christmas finally comes around I love painting my nails in festive colours, and end up bring out the glitter polishes too. I have a mix of colours as well as brands to give you some nail inspiration. So let’s take a look.

Red Fingers & Mistletoes by OPI

Black Honey by Fearne

Pure Diamonds (213) by Mavala

Glitter nail varnishes always remind me of Christmas and these three nail varnishes are my favourites. Starting off with a beautiful red and orange glittery nail varnish by OPI. If you are looking for a red varnish with glitter incorporated into it then this one is for you. When looking at the colour in the pot it looks like the whole varnish is glittery but once you apply it you can see it has a red colour base to it. You can apply this like a normal nail varnish, two coats will get you an even and stunning colour. I also love the fact this nail varnish is so easy to remove, unlike a lot of glitters.

Moving on the next nail varnish by Fearne, which is gorgeous. I picked this up a few years ago in a Christmas gift set and was unsure about the colour, but was really surprised. This nail varnish has specks of gold and black glitter in it which looks stunning on the nail. I love the fact you can apply this like a normal nail varnish, with two coats, and get an even solid coverage. This nail varnish doesn’t last as long as the OPI varnishes but I don’t mind.

The final glitter polish I’ve picked is by Malava and is a gorgeous silver glitter. This nail varnish is normally layered over another colour as it’s not a solid colour and would take about 3 or 4 layers to build up. I love using this to get a lovely glitter french manicure or add a touch of glitter to a plain red or deep purple. It’s such a versatile nail varnish I need in my collection.

Lincoln Park at Midnight by OPI

London (53) by Mavala

I have mentioned recently how much I love Lincoln Park at Midnight. This nail varnish is a very dark purple with the tiniest bit of shimmer running through it, which can only be seen in the sunlight. I love the way this colour changed, depending on the lighting, and feels very wintery. It’s also very long wearing, which is always a bonus. When I am looking for a dramatic nail, this is the nail varnish I will tend to choose.

I couldn’t do a festive nail varnish blog post without including a gorgeous red. I would say this colour looks like a London Post box and it looks lovely on or around Christmas time. This red is very bright and has undertones on orange in it, which makes it a real statement piece. Sometimes I will add the pure diamond nail varnish over the top to add a bit of sparkle to the look.

So if you are stuck on festive nail colours this Christmas then hopefully this has given you some inspiration. If you have any favourite nail varnish then let me know in the comments, I’m always on the look out for new colours and brands to try. If you haven’t already then why not take a look at yesterday’s post all about my Christmas wish list.

Merry Christmas, Steph x

Red fingers and mistletoe would be my choice. I always have glittery nails at the time of year, Chloe
