There are so many things I love about Christmas, it’s by far my favourite time of the year. I’m going to share with you, my 10 favourite things I love about Christmas.
Decorating our tree and the flat
When the 1st December (or a few days before, like this year) comes along the whole house is decorated to make it look Christmasy. I love putting the tree up with twinkly lights and baubles hanging on the tree. I then put some Christmasy decoration pieces around the house to make it feel festive. If you missed my recent blog post, Deck the Hauls then go take a look as its all about my Christmas decorations this year.
Choosing presents for my friends and family
One of my favourite parts of Christmas is planning presents I am going to buy everyone, then going out and buying them, and finally coming home and wrapping them all up ready for Christmas day is so exciting. I love the whole process and I am always so excited on Christmas day to give everyone their gifts and see their reactions. Christmas is about giving, and spending time with family, which I think sometimes gets lost.
Going on cold crisp winter walks
I love going out on walks either in parks, woods or green areas and enjoying being outside. My favourite winter day is when it’s a cold crisp day with a beautiful clear blue sky. I love wrapping up warm going on a lovely walk and then coming home to warm up. There is something magical about going on a frosty walk where it’s lovely and peaceful. I’m so lucky to have a Fiancé who loves walks just as much as me.
Playing Christmas music and dancing around the flat
Sometimes it’s nice just to put on some Christmas songs and dance around to them. If I’m really stressed then this is one way for me to forget about everything and have a bit of fun. Christmas songs always cheer me up no matter what mood I am in. I find Spotify is great as they have loads of playlist to choose from with a variety of Christmas music.
Christmas movies
I love sitting down in the evening and watching Christmas movies with my Fiancé. I find Christmas movies alway get me into the festive mood and they are always really fun to watch. My current favourite is the Polar Express, it is such a magical movie about a boys journey to the north pole on the Polar Express. If you haven’t already read my Favourite Christmas Movies then why not take a look here.
Wearing glittery nail varnish
I have always loved painting my nails around Christmas. I will normally change the colours I am using and bring out the glitters. I have three glitter nail varnishes that I always go back to at Christmas as they are such festive colours. I sometimes find just doing a glitter french manicure or just on my ring finger adds a festive look without being too over the top.
Drinking Mulled wine and eating roasted chestnuts
Mulled wine is my favourite Christmas drink as its so different to any other alcoholic drink. I love the fact its red wine with a mix of spices in it and you drink it warm, I just love it. I had never had roasted chestnuts until a year ago when my Fiancé made them for me and I feel I have been missing out now. My mum always had tinned chestnuts and I hated them but roasted chestnuts are completely different and very Christmasy.
Chrismas baking
Every year as part of my Christmas present I always have some baking included in them. Baking gingerbread men or Christmas inspired cookies or brownies is a must for me. I love baking so why wouldn’t I do it during the Christmas period. I’m also really excited to try some recipes from Tanya Burr’s baking book.
Spending time with family
Christmas is one of the only times of the year when I see most of my family, spend time with them and exchange presents. I love spending time with my family and I now get to spend time with the Fiancés family too, which is so nice.
Boxing day sales
Our family on Boxing day always goes to the Boxing day sales and will normally pick a few things to buy. Mum and I love going into Boots and buying their beauty gift sets as they are half price. I find the best way to shop on boxing day is with a list and an idea of what you are looking for, that way you will get what you are looking for hopefully. My favourite places to go for Boxing day sales are Southampton, Kingston Upon Thames & Guildford.
So these are 10 of my favourite things I love about Christmas, what are yours? There is so much to love about Christmas and also so much to be thankful for.
Merry Christmas, Steph x
