Planning your wedding can take a long time and will become very stressful at times. I am currently planning my own wedding and know exactly how it feels when everything feels completely out of control and you feel there is too much to do in so little time. Over the past year I have come up with a few different methods that have really helped making wedding planning a lot easier and also less stressful.
Organisation/Planning
Organisation is key to planning a wedding with the least amount of stress possible. I found using a wedding planning website really helped as they give you a list of what needs doing and deadlines for each item. The one I am using is Wedding Planner and I would highly recommend you taking a look at.
If you prefer writing things down then why not invest in a wedding planner, this way everything is in one place and you can take it along to meeting and have everything to hand. If you want suggestions for good wedding planner books then let me know in the comments and I will do a blog post on my top picks.
Take some time out
When you are planning your wedding every weekend or in the evenings it can get to a stage when you just really need a break. Why not allocate one weekend once a month or every two months to go and do something as a couple that doesn’t include wedding planning. This will then allow you to come back to planning your wedding with a fresh eyes and means you can spend some quality time with each other.
Ask if you need help
There is no point struggling when there are so many different ways to find the answers you need when planning a wedding. The first place I go is to my parents as they have already been married so understand the whole process and also give great advice. When it comes to your vendors like photographer, florist, music its best to ask those people your questions directly as each company will do things a bit differently. Another amazing source of information is the internet. There are so many wedding planning website, like the one I mentioned above, and also bloggers who have documented the process and cover nearly every question you could ever think of. So don’t worry about something you do understand or know, ask your family questions or do some research and I’m sure you will find the answer.
You can’t please everyone
I have always been the sort of person who would try and please everyone and I tried to do it for my wedding too but finally realised it just isn’t possible. You only get married once so you need to enjoy your wedding day and not base it around what everyone around you would want. For example with table plan you will never be able to make everyone happy with where they are sitting so why not mix it up so that there’s are mixture of both families on each table. Wedding are all about meeting your other half’s family and celebrating your wedding so use that to your advantage and don’t have sleepless nights about it. At the end of the day it’s you and your other half’s day so plan it however you to want it.
Enjoy the Process
Before you know it you wedding day will arrive and you will wonder where all that time went. Wedding planning can be stressful at time but there is also so much excitement involved that the time can just fly by. Try and enjoy planning your wedding even if it just certain aspects like finding your venue, trying on wedding dresses, or choosing the flavour of your wedding cake. Enjoy the process and this will also help to eliminate some of the stress too.
If you get to a stage in you wedding planning where it is all getting a bit too much then hopefully one of the things I mentioned about will help you to get back on track. Just keep things at the end of all this you will have the most amazing day where you can celebrate and let your hair down. On that note have a lovely week and I will see you again on Monday.

Well said! I got married 15year ago and I think the best part of all of your advice (it’s all great!) but that you can’t please everyone. That’s so true and you get so bogged down with pleasing everyone else that it’s easy to forget who’s day it actually is!! Xx
