Let’s be honest I don’t think a lot of people look forward to taking their makeup off at the end of the day, so finding a makeup remover you love makes it less of a chore. I use to always use micellar water followed by my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish. I found when I use the micellar water it used to feel uncomfortable around my eyes and didn’t get all the makeup of my skin. So I decided to go on the hunt for a product that will take off all my makeup and I dont have to cleanse afterwards, if I am in a hurry.
I had never tried a cleansing butter as I can sometimes get quite oily on my head and I always felt a cleanser with an oil base would be a bad combination, I was wrong. I picked up The Body Shop Sumptuous Cleansing Butter about 6 months ago and I recently decided to test it out. I am amazed by how well this cleanser manages to break down the makeup so that I can wipe it all off with a wet muslin cloth. The camomile is also really gentle and calming on the skin too.
So why is this product so good? It has everything I look for in a makeup remover:
- It’s gentle on my skin
- Doesn’t irritate my eye area or skin in general
- The smell isn’t overpowering or chemical
- Removes my makeup quickly and efficiently
- Leaves my skin feeling clean
I love the way you can take your makeup in under 1 minute and it leaves your skin feeling clean and hydrated. You also don’t need a lot of this product as it turns from a butter to an oil allowing it to break up all your makeup, including waterproof mascara, which is amazing. I have found that this product works a lot better than just using my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, I think due to the fact the Cleanse & Polish is a cream whereas this is an oil based butter formulation.
Once I have removed my makeup I will usually apply a small amount of moisturiser. I find the oils in this butter really help to moisturise your skin as you are removing your makeup.
If you have really oily skin, then maybe this isn’t one for you or you could try using this as your first step and then cleanse afterwards, to get rid of the excess oils from this butter. If you have normal/dry skin, then I would recommend trying this product out and seeing if you love it as much as I do. This product is also perfect for traveling as it comes in a tin so there is no chance of it leaking into your washbag. On the tin it says ‘suitable for sensitive skin’ which I can say is true as I have sensitive skin myself.
If you have used the Sumptuous Cleansing Butter from The Body Shop, then let me know what you think of it and if you have tried any of the other products from the Camomile range, comment down bellow. Have a lovely weekend.

To be honest I haven’t tried the Garnier Micellar water. My mum uses the Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water and loves it, so I might review it and see how it compares. Yes give it a go and let me know what you think of it x
I need to get my hands on one of these! That sounds amazing.
