So the reason I have taken a mini-break from blogging, is because we got married !!! I am so excited to be able to now share with you everything to do with our wedding.
We got married on Saturday 22nd of July at Farnham Castle in Surrey. We had our wedding ceremony in the castle’s Norman Chapel, which is a stunning part of the castle and meant we had our whole wedding at the same venue. Farnham Castle is an old 900 year old castle overlooking Farnham, it was a beautiful location for our wedding and all the guests loved it. We decided to keep the wedding small with around 60 guests during the day and a few more friends in the evening.
I tried not to have too many expectations for the wedding day, as I am the sort of person who likes to make a plan and stick to it. I know things could change on the wedding day so I let go of trying to control what was going to happen and just enjoyed it. The day felt like it when by really slowly but also fast at the same time, it was having 3 days in one, it’s quite hard to explain. It now feels really surreal thinking about our wedding day, it feels a bit like a dream but the photos remind us our fairytale wedding definitely happened. We stayed at the castle overnight, and we had such a beautiful bridal suite (it was bigger than our flat!). It was very nice to then have breakfast with the guests the next morning, prolong the wedding day just a little bit more.
We then went on our honeymoon with three nights in the beautiful Cotswolds and then a week in Tenerife, which was amazing. I would definitely suggest going on a honeymoon or even a mini-moon after your wedding as it means you can finally relax after all that planning and spend some time with you new Husband/Wife.
We had a 22 month engagement, which sounds like forever, but it was the perfect amount of time for us to finish off our degrees, plan our wedding and enjoy our engagement. It was amazing how quickly the wedding day snuck up on us, it always felt ages away. One piece of advice I have for the last month before your wedding is to make sure you have a list of everything that needs doing and try and get stuff done early rather than later. In the final week before the wedding it will make it a lot easier if you have everything in place and organised so you know exactly what needs doing.
It’s still weird to know our wedding day is over and I now have a Husband, it will start to sink in once I have legally changed my name. We are still waiting for our professional photographs and I’m planning on posting a few in a blog post but in the meantime why not follow me on Instagram and Twitter to see a sneak peek.
If you want to hear more about my wedding day, as I’m planning on doing a blog post about the whole day, how we saved money and my tips then make sure to follow my blog. Have a lovely week.
