You may find during the winter your skin can become very dry in places or even all over. I find that my forehead becomes very dry, but at times can feel more like my regular combination skin, making it quite difficult to find the best products to use. Here are some of the products that have really helped clear up my dry areas this winter.
Firstly starting off with cleansers. My Morning Skincare routine always starts off with a Cleanser and my favourite has to be the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I love that this cleanser starts off as a Gel and then turns into an oil, which you then wipe of with a muslin cloth. This cleanser really helps get rid of any dirt on you skin, and the muslin cloth helps remove dead skin cells, and it leaves you skin feeling fresh but not stripped of moisture. The key for cleansers is to find one that effectively cleans you skin without getting rid of all your natural oils, as this is your body’s natural way of hydrating your skin. If you suffer from really dry skin then maybe look into a cream cleanser, Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish is a great option. Finding a cleanser that your skin likes is key.
Exfoliating once a week is a great way to help stimulate your skin cells and whilst getting rid of the dead skin cells too. I’m currently using the Codage Paris Creme Gommante (scrubbing Cream), which has rice particles to give you a gentle exfoliation. I have quite sensitive skin so having a gentle exfoliation every week doesn’t aggravate my skin but still leaves it feeling silky smooth. Another exfoliant I love using is the Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant Exfoliant . You use this product everyday, it’s so quick to use and has some great ingredients to keep your skin looking and feeling great.
When it comes to serums my saving grace has to be The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, its an amazing product considering the price. I love adding in a serum just after my cleanser and exfoliator just to give my skin that extra boost of moisture. I always run back to The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, when my skin starts feeling dry, as this product helps clear up any dry skin within a few days and keeps it looking healthy and really hydrated. I will usually use a serum every morning and evening to make sure my skin is as a hydrated as possible with all this cold weather.
Using a good moisturiser is the last step to making sure your skin has plenty of moisture all locked in ready for the day ahead or just before heading off to bed. I find moisturisers are quite tricky to get right. I seem to suffer from dry patches but also an oily t-zone so using moisturisers with oils in them make my skin very greasy, which I don’t like. I have recently been trying out the Caudalie Moisturising Sorbet, which my skin seems to like. It is a very light weight whipped texture which sinks into the skin really quickly but does seem to really hydrate my skin. You need to use a moisturiser thats right for your skin type, personally my skin can’t handle really thick creams, but if you are stuck then pop into your favourite skincare shop and ask for their advice.
My final product has to be Lip balm. I am a lip balm addict, I hate having dry, sore, cracked lips so I am always on the hunt for a great lip balm that moisturises my lips and will keep them moisturised for hours. My go to lip balm has to be the Glossier Balm Dotcom, it is a fantastic product that I can’t rave about enough. Since using this product my lips have’t been sore or dry at all, even on the coldest of days. I use this every morning and evening and love that you can eat and drink with this lip balm on and it doesn’t come off. A fantastic product that you need to try.
So those are the products I can’t live without during the winter. I would love to know what your winter must have skincare products are.
Have a lovely weekend!
