January is always a great time to give your home a new look, whether that be buying some new home accessories, changing the layout of a room or just changing the atmosphere. Today I thought I would talk about how you can added greenery into your home and the benefits of doing so.
There are so many great reason for having plants in your home: stress reliever, they purify the air, and of course look beautiful. I love having plants in every room, they bring a lease of life into our flat and makes the room feel fresh and homely. If you live in a flat you most probably don’t have a garden so this is a great way of bring one inside instead.
There are so many different plants to choose from, it took us forever to agree on which ones we wanted to get. We are three different plants with one being a succulent and the other two are different types of ferns. I will definitely be purchasing more in the future as I now want to have plants all over our home. I think next time we won’t buy ferns as we are finding them quite difficult to keep alive due to the changing conditions in our small flat, whereas our succulent hardly needs any water and looks so pretty.
If you work from home then popping a plant on your desk in a cute pot and you’ll find it helps make your office space feel fresh and adds a touch of green. If you know you will forget to water the plants then maybe go for a succulent of cactus. Just remember some plants can be a bit temperamental and take a while to settle into their new environment, just keep at it or do some research into how best to look after it and you will be fine.
Try to select plants for different rooms based on their needs and the overall look you are going for. Maybe look at have a palm on a large landing, whereas in your bedrooms and kitchens look at smaller plants like succulent or even a small spider plant. You tend to have more space in your dining room and lounge so you can get away with a few small plant on a coffee table or side unit and then a tall plant, like a cheese plant, in a corner.
There are so many options to choose from so why not buy a couple of different types of plants, dot them around you house and take it from there. Pinterest is a great place to source inspiration and ideas of how to arrange plants, where that is hanging from the ceiling, on a shelf or a trio on a coffee table. Just remember to water your plants and make sure they get the right amount of sunlight.
Enjoy!

I also want to incorporate plants into my home, only thing is I don’t trust myself after unintentionally neglecting a poinsettia over the Christmas holiday ?
