I recently found my skin has change, with the whether finally starting to warm up, my skincare and makeup routine has been switched up. In the winter I get very dry combination skin, which I find a nightmare to try and keep on top of. Whereas in the spring and summer all my dryness clears up and my only concern is an oily t-zone once in a while. With this in mind I have decided to try out a few new products this season and I have started to use a few of my favourites last summer again.
Skincare
Skincare wise I love using a gel cleanser instead of an oil during the Spring / Summer months, I just feel it helps break down any oils and keeps them at bay during the day. My favourite has to be the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel. The cleansing gel is a soap-free lathers gel, which helps keep the natural balance of moisture in your skin whilst breaking down any impurities. I am just obsessed with how quick and easy it is to use and I can really see the difference in how my skin looks when I use it.
For me my skincare routine is more important then my makeup routine. If you have a good base to work on, your makeup will look perfect, where as if your skin is a bit oily then it tends to make my makeup not look great.
Make-up
Starting off with my base and my favourite light concealer which is the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in 01. During the winter months I used the Glossier Stretch Concealer, which was great during the winter as its lovely and creamy whilst being quite hydrating. For the Spring months I switch to a liquid concealer as I find my skin prefers a concealer that is lighter in formula and has more of a dewey look. I have used Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer for years now and love how it gives you that glow making it perfect for under the eyes.
During the Winter I don’t really use a bronzer but with Spring around the corner I have decided to try out a new one, which is Nude by Nature Natural Glow Loose Bronzer. I love using a bronzer in the Spring just to give my skin the natural glow and give it some colour again. I tend to stay away from powders in the Spring, but this one is milled so finely that it just glides onto the skin without leaving a powdery residue. I always find a little powder goes a long way and if for some reason I look slightly powdery I just use my Revolution Pro-Fix Setting Spray and it all disappears.
For eyes I have recently started to move away from powders and especially for Spring I find a cream eye colour just looks fresh and natural on the lid. My go to cream eye colours are the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour. These stick eye colours are beautifully creamy and still have that matte finish, which I love. I picked up a set of 4 minis with two being shimmers and two being matte all in quite nude tones and I am always using them. The thing I love about them is you don’t need a eyeshadow primer and they are so easy to swipe on and then quickly blend with your finger or a brush . I usually just use one colour and then if i want a more dramatic look I will pop a darker colour in the crease. I tend to only use the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Spring and Summer because if you have dry eye lids then the product tends to stick to the dry areas, which doesn’t look fantastic.
Finally moving onto lips and I feel I have finally found a matt lip cream that I absolutely love. A lot of the time I tend to use a hydrating lipstick but I think it’s also nice to add in a few matte colours through spring. My currently favourite is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes it feels really nice on the lips and last most of the day without leaving your lips feelings dry and irritated. I think this shade is perfect to add a spring colour or a pop of colour through your lips.
I am so excited for spring and for the threat of snow to finally disappear. If you are interest in fashion then why not check out my Spring Wardrobe Wishlist filled with everything I am loving this season.
