Spring Style: Stepping out of my Comfort Style

When it comes to style I normally stick to my comfort zone which tends to be blue jeans, white t-shirt and some converse style shoes, but I have decided this season to mix it up a bit. This idea all started whilst I was browsing through Zara and was draw to a piece I normally wouldn’t have picked up. I added a few pieces to my basket and ordered them, not knowing if they were going to suit me or even if I had the right size. When the order arrived I was amazed at how perfectly all the pieces fitted but more importantly, how much I loved all the pieces.

When it comes to new seasons I tend to buy a few new pieces and then mix it into the rest of my capsule wardrobe. I love looking on Pinterest for inspiration of what is in this season but also for some styling ideas too. I felt like I had become very content with my go to outfits and it was time to inject some exciting new pieces into the mix.

The first piece I am obsessed with are these Zara Leggings With Pipped Red Stripes in Black, which is something I would normally stay clear of. I tend to stick to black leggings, unless it’s workout gear, but recently lots of people have been styling black legging with a stripe down the side and thought I would try it out for myself. I love how flattering these legging are and they also add a point of interest to your outfit from the side, which I love. These legging where about £25 and the quality is really nice. They are lovely and thick and about ankle length on me (I am 5″10) so for most people they would come bellow your ankle.

One thing I was always scared to do was mix a stripe and polka dots together, but some how I have found a way to pull it off. I recently purchased a white and blue polka dot jumper from Primark and decided to style it with the Zara Legging, mentioned above. I really loved the way the look turned out, I think it helps that the stripe for the leggings is on the side so from the front you don’t really notice the stripe. I think the trick is to have one accent colour, either the strip or polka dots and then keep the other colours quite neutral and muted. That way you don’t have too many colour fighting for attention.

The last item I wanted to talk about is a new wardrobe staple the Zara Double Breasted Coat in Nude Pink. I have been searching for blazer for about a year now but have never found one that fits properly. I actually found this jacket through Sheerluxe, if you don’t follow their blog you need too, and I decided to give it a go. I am completely obsessed with the colour, it’s a pinky nude in colour with large pearl buttons and it just sits perfectly. It’s definitely an oversized blazer but so easy to style, the colour making it feel so Spring / Summer.  This Blazer was around £70 and I thinks its well worth that price as the quality if beautiful. The blazer is lined and has a lovely weight to it too. I love how easily you can style this and it will get a ton of use from me.

If you want to see more of these items then take a look at my New Spring Pieces over on my Youtube channel. I have really been enjoying stepping out of my comfort in fashion, I have found so many new styles to explore.
