After about a year of trying lots of different hair products I feel I now have a haircare edit that I can share with you all. I have quite fine hair so I can find my hair becomes very limp and dull if I use products that are very heavy. I find my hair gets greasy by the second day so I have been on the hunt to find the perfect product for fine hair. I use all these products at least once a month and swear by them all. So lets get started.
Treatments
Starting off with pre shampoo treatments and I have two that I use, depending on what my hair is lacking. The first treatment is the Loreal Elveal Extraordinary Clay Masque, which has been formaulated to help purify your scalp and help lift your roots. You apply the clay all over a dry scalp and then leave it for up to 5 minutes. You then wash it off in the shower and I then use my normal shampoo & conditioner. I love how effective this product is, my hair has never felt so clean and I can clearly see more lift from my roots. If you want to purify your face then reaching for a clay masque makes sense. The ideas to use a clay masque on your hair is genious. If you suffer from a greasy scalp then this product would be amazing for you.
The second treamtent is by Philip Kingsley and its the Elasticizer, which I use when my hair is really dry and lacking bounce and shine. I normally apply this from about half way down my hair, if I use it on my roots it makes them really greasy. You apply this product to wet hair and then leave it for about 20 minutes under a showcap. Once 20 mintures are up I then go for a shower, rinse the product out and wash my hair like normal. After using this product my hair feels silky smooth and really healthy, it’s also great at controlling an fly away hairs. I normally use this product one a month but now I am swimming 3 times a week I find I am having to use it more often, as the chlorine really drys out my hair.
Shampoo
When it comes to shampoos I normally use the Herbal Essences Volume (white grapefruit & Mosa Mint) shamppo and conditioner every other day, which I love as its a really light shampoo so it adds some volumn to my hair. I do find that after a week or two my hair can become quite limp and dull so I then use the Kevin Murphy Maxi Wash Detox Shampoo, which is amazing for getting rid of any product build up on the scalp. My hair looks and feel so healthy after using this product and using it every two weeks helps keep my hair looking its best. Every so often I think it’s good to use a detox shampoo, you’ll be surprised how much of a difference it makes.
Another form of shampoo I use is dry shampoo, if my hair needs it between washes. The dry shampoo I love is the Co Lab Dry + Shampoo Active, this stuff is just brilliant for so many reasons. I have used Batiste in the past but hated that the dry shampoo was white and you couldn’t never get all the powered out. Co Lab dry shampoos are all clear so you can spray as much as you like and will never get any white residue, which is brilliant. My hair feels so clean after using this dry shampoo and it also helps give my hair some texture too. I normally don’t need to use this but when my hair is looking a bit greasy this product is a life saver.
Styling Products
One a day to day basis I normally let me hair dry naturally over night and then pop it up in a pony tail or bun for work. So when it comes to the weekend I love styling my hair, with my favourite hair style being loose curls. Without these two styling products my curls will only last a few hours.
My first styling product is the Charles Worthington Volume & Bonce Body Booster Mousse. I really struggle keeping curls all day, after a few hours they noramally drop and I have straight hair by the end of the day; the joys of fine hair. I find using a volumn mousse on my hair, before blow drying, really helps create volumn at the root of my hair and also means the curls stay in my hair longer. I put the mousse on my roots and down the length of my hair and it really works. There is something so fun about putting mousse in your hair and I love that this mousse isn’t sticky or feels crispy in your hair once you have blow dried it in.
Once I have curled my hair I then use the TRESemme Make Waves Creation Hairspray to help keep everything in place for the whole day. I hate using hairsprays as they leave your hair feeling really crispy and looking shiny. However, this hair spray has been formulated so that is helps keep curls in place without weighing them down, and allows you to create definition and bounce without you hair turning into a crispy mess.
If you have fine hair like me then all these products would definitely be worth you checking out and maybe even giving a few of them ago. Let me know if you have any other hair products you swear by and I will see you on Friday!
