With Summer now officially here, and having just come back from holiday in Turkey, I thought I would share with you my holiday skincare routine. I find on holiday I don’t have a lot of time to get ready so I usually only use a few products in the morning and then do a more intense evening routine. All these products are under 100ml’s, so I could take then in my hand luggage. Enjoy!
Starting off with cleansing and my favourite for holiday has to be the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel . Gel cleansers are so easy to use in the shower or quickly over the sink and you only need to use a tiny amount of them, meaning they last ages. I really like how much this gel cleanser foams up, allowing it to effectively get rig of any dirt and products on your skin. It doesn’t really smell like anything, which I love, and it also helps keep my skin oil free during the day. The perfect start to any skincare routine.
Moving onto toners, which I only really use on holiday for some reason. My current favourite is the L’occitane Gentle Toner Enriched with Shea. I use this in two ways, I’ll spray it on my face after cleansing and I also take it out with me as its great for freshening your skin during the day. This toner has Shea in it, which really helps to gently hydrate your skin without leaving you looking shiny.
The one step I never miss is applying my La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo (+). If I was stuck on a desert island and I was only allowed three products this would be one of them. Effaclar works so well with my skin, to the point where I don’t really break out anymore and my skin has never looked so good. I only use a tiny amount of this on my chin, which is where most of my scarring is, and then move onto my moisturiser. This product is really gentle, even for sensitive skin, and I have sworn by this product for years now.
My moisturiser of choice has to be the Dr Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Oil-Free Moisure Cushion, this is a must have for me in the summer. If you have combination / oily skin you need to try this product out. This products has completely transformed how my skin looks and feels. I use to look really shiny by the end of the day, which I hated, and now my skin isn’t oily at all . I also love that this moisturiser has hyaluronic acid in it, so you still get that hydration without overloading your skin. The only problem with this products is the price, but you hardly need any product to cover your face so I have a feeling it will last a long time.
The last step is always SPF. My current favourite is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL 50+SPF Anti-Shine. SPF is a must in the summer, even in England, and I always go for the highest factor due to my fair skin. I love how lightweight this cream SPF is for such a high factor, normally they are really thick and leave white marks. The consistency is similar to a light moisturiser, and it’s soaked up by the skin really quickly. I have this in the 50ml and it has already lasted 3 weeks on holiday and it still feels like there is a lot in it. The only pain is you can’t tell how much is left, so I might pick up a new one for my next trip just in case this one finishes mid holiday.
Maintaining a good skincare routine on holiday is important especially in a hot country. If you’r stuck on what to take then hopefully this has given you some ideas.
If you want to see what we got up to on our travels in Turkey then I’ve just uploaded a travel vlog here.
Have a lovely week!
