Cleansers are the basis to a good skincare routine but there are so many to choose from and how do you know which one is right for you. I find that I use different cleansers depending on how my skin in feeling or if I am wearing makeup or not.
My go to cleansers are always gel cleansers, I find they are so effective at taking off any dirt and grim whilst keeping your skin hydrated. One thing I have found with having combination skin is that you need a cleanser that can really clean your skin without stripping off its natural oils. otherwise your skin will become very dehydrated and irritated. I always reaching for the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel on a daily basis, I love that it goes from a gel into a oil and feels like a mini pamper every time I use it. I’ve also got the Ren T-Zone Control Cleaning Gel, which I’m excited to try out and see if I enjoy it as much as the Oskia one.
Sometimes my skin needs a double cleanse, whether its been a long day in London or I have makeup on, I always reach for a Balm as my first cleanse. I have tried quite a a few different balm cleansers but the one that has really stood out to me is the Clinique Take the Day off Cleansing Balm. This Cleanser is incredible at taking off all my makeup quickly and effectively. Balms are a great way of gently taking off stubborn dirt or makeup without stripping your skin or dehydrating it.
I use to swear by cream cleansers, my favourite being the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, but now I only really use them in the winter if my skin is really dry and uncomfortable. Over the years I have found that my skin doesn’t really like cream cleansers, except for in really cold temperatures, as they are too heavy for my skin type. One thing I love about cream cleansers is you can remove them withe a muslin cloth, which acts as a gentle exfoliator.
The last type of cleanser, which I use rarely, is an oil cleanser. I have recently fallen in love with oils as they are so hydrating on your skin, whilst being light enough your skin to absorb the moisture, without clogging the pores. I haven’t tried enough oil cleanser to find one that I really like. Oil Cleansers are great at removing any bacteria or impurities that lie deep in your pores, making them great for deep cleansing. They are also great for removing makeup as it will break down the makeup on your skin without any harsh scrubbing needed.
What are your favourite cleansers?
