With the festive period here I love wearing more of a glowy look with a bit of glitter thrown in. I have put together my favourite makeup products that I love wearing this time of the year. Something I love doing around Christmas is wearing a darker lip and then having the rest of my makeup quite subtle, to balance out the look.
Starting off with a primer and the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Hydrating is great for keeping your makeup looking natural all day. I love using a hydrating primer in the winter, as my skin tends to be dryer in the cold winter months. This primer is a very light cream that is absorbed quickly and doesn’t leave my face looking oily at all. The perfect base for all my makeup to sit on.
A liquid concealer is a must when I want more of a dewy look, so I always reach for the Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer in Ivory. I have raved about this concealer so much, its a gorgeous light texture that can be easily blended with your fingers or a beauty blender. If you want to use this as a brightening concealer then I recommend going one shade lighter. Another great glowy product is the Becca Shimmering Perfector in Moonstone. This highlighter is incredible and perfect for the festive season. Personally I have always been scared of highlighter, I just don’t fancy looking like a glitter ball. I like to add a small amount of this product onto the tops of my cheekbones, under my brows and then a tiny amount down my nose and on the cupids bow. You only need the tiniest amount of this to get a gorgeous healthy glowing complexion.
A palette I have been loving is the Beauty Pie One Palette Wonder, which is a new purchase this month. If you don’t already know, Beauty Pie is a subscription service where you can buy beauty products at cost price and all the products I have tried so far are amazing quality and at a steal of a price. This palette is a brilliant one for on the go as you get a bronzer, highlighter, 2 blushes and 3 eyeshadows. I love wearing a subtle eye look and the glittery deep brown shade is so pretty for Christmas, all the eyeshadows are really buildable which I love too. I like to wear a little bit of bronzer and blush too, so it looks very natural. This palette is so versatile, with a number of different looks in this palette. The powder is really nice a creamy consistency with hardly any fallout when applied, which is a winner in my book.
To really make my eyes pop I like to use Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. This mascara is great for creating volume in your lashes, without causing any clumping. Its large fluffy brush helps separate the lashes and makes application quick and mess-free.
Finally for a festive dark lip and my current favourite, the Beauty Pie Future Lipstick Luxe Shine in Raisin D’etre. If you are looking for a dark lip, but more of a burgundy rather than red, then this would be perfect. Firstly the formulation of the lipstick is so glossy and its lasting power is amazing, even after food and drink. I find this lipstick so easy to apply, no lip liner needed and it doesn’t smudge, which is brilliant for Christmas parties. Normally I would reach for a red lip at Christmas but this is a lovely alternative.
Let me know what your festive makeup is. Merry Christmas!
