Something really excited happened a couple of month ago, we bought our first house. I can’t believe we have now been in our house for 2 months, it feels so good to be able put our own stamp on this house and make it our own. We use to rent a little one bed flat so moving from that to a two bed house means there is so much more space to play with and design. If you don’t already know I’m an interior designer, so I am literally in my element designing all the rooms.
We are designing the house in stages with the lounge and master bedroom being done first. As the lounge is nearly there I’ve found we have been spending so much time enjoying this room. A really quick way to make a room feel really homely is to dress it, so with our lounge I have the coffee table and sideboard dressed with some gorgeous accessories.
One thing you will always find on my coffee table is a curated pile of books. One book I am obsessed with is the House Plants: Living with Succulents, Air Plants and Cacti by Caro Langton & Rose Ray. My husband gave me this book at Christmas, as he knows how obsessed I am with plants. If you like your house plants you need this book as it explains which plants are best for certain lighting and environments and how to look after them. The photographs are gorgeous and it’s written is a way that makes it so easy to look after you plants. Aesthetically this book looks gorgeous on a coffee table with the gorgeous front cover enticing you to pick it up and flick through.
Other than plant books you will find interior design and travel books on my coffee table too. There is something so nice about sitting on the sofa, grabbing a book (whether thats fiction or non-fiction.) It’s also a great base for a little dressing of accessories.

A really easy way I like to keep our house smelling amazing is by burning candles. The candle I am currently burning is the Lavender and Basil Candle from Liz Earle, I always burn this in the evening as it completely relaxes me. I always look for good quality candles that are preferably soya, as they burn more evenly allowing you to get more for your money. You also find, a good quality candle will smell amazing when not lit, especially when someone walks past it.
Moving house has given me a good excuse to buy more house plants and I just don’t think you can go wrong with a succulent. John Lewis are currently selling a gorgeous collection of succulents from The Little Botanical and they are perfect. We bought two for our bedside tables, as I find succulents are so easy to look after. I also love the pot designs, with a delicate metallic detail at the bottom, so cute.
I can’t wait to share our new home with you once it’s all done and looking more like us.
