2020 has been a really hard year, but I wanted to put a positive spin on it. I thought I would share four things I am grateful in 2020, as there is always light even in the darkest of times.
Having my little Baby Boy
I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy back in May has been one of the things that kept me going. Don’t get me wrong it has been a real struggle at times, but being able to slow down has really help me to treasure all those amazing moments.
Weirdly I’ve spoken to my family more last year and any other year. Technology has been a lifesaver, enabling us to talk and see loved ones, easing the pain of not physically being able to see them. Slowing down has also made me realise how we need to take more time for our family and friends. Sometime even just a 10-minute phone call a week, it makes a world of difference.
How Strong I am
We are so much stronger than we think! Mentally 2020 has been difficult and some days I’ve just had to tell myself tomorrow is a new day. You can make it! We have all had dark days but you will be ok and get through it. My husband has been my greatest supporter this year and I’m so thankful for that. I know our lives will eventually get back to some sort of normal but for now, we’ve make a new normal for our little family.
You have to be selfish and take some me time! I’ve been trying to do more of this, even if that’s just making a cup of tea and watching a Youtube video. It’s a much-needed way of mentally resetting and taking a quick break. With my husband currently working for home, it makes it easier to take a quick 5 mins for me.
I’d love to know what you are grateful for in 2020 and what you are looking forward to in 2021?
Such an amazing post, and congratulations on the birth of your son. What an exciting time, it must have been so strange to give birth close to the beginning of lockdown xx
Thank you. Yes it was a completely different birth and maternity leave to what I ever imagined, but it’s definitely had its perks x
Awh I love this post Steph and you and your boy look SO CUTE! It’s so important to express gratitude in times like this. And it sounds like you have a lot to be grateful for x
Thank you, I love his cute little smile! I completely agree, gratitude is something I want to work on this year. I really do have so much to be grateful for and I think it’s important that I remind myself of that x
I love this post and reading everything you’re grateful for! Congratulations on your little bundle of joy – he is gorgeous. I’m grateful to have had the year to slow down, take things easy and have spare time to pursue a lot of my other goals xxx
Thank you! It’s amazing how much just slowing down our lives has really helped reprioritise things that are now important to us. It’s great that you manage to pursue some of your goals last year too x
Yes! Despite everything happening last year I think its important to take some positives from it! For example I had the time to spend setting up my business!
Wow, that’s amazing congratulations on setting up your own business! That’s an amazing use of time. Good luck with it all x
Such a lovely post and congrats on the birth of your son! I agree that this year has definitely taught us that we are much stronger than we all think!

Thank you. Yes it really has, we are all so much more resilient then we believe we are x
Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy, Steph! It’s great that you have taken the time to list all the things that you are grateful for despite the situation. Likewise, I believe that it is important to look on the flip side. Doing so has helped me become more positive too. All the best in 2021, Steph! 🙂
Thank you! I’m trying to become more positive, I’ve found it has a massive impact on my mental health. 2020 will be remembered for Covid but I want to remember it for so many other positive reasons x
Congrats on your baby boy! These are all so important and huge things to be grateful for.
Thank you! I agree even on the hardest of days I feel it’s important to remind yourself of one thing your grateful for x
Love that this year managed to give you so much close time with your newborn! One of my friends became a father back in April, and he said that (like you) it was tough, but he wouldn’t trade it in for the world!

I completely agree with that. Having a newborn in a pandemic is not easy but there are so many positives to being stuck at home. It allowed us to settle into family life and watch our little boy grow. Can’t believe he is already 8 months now x
Oh I love this a whole lot! I love when people take out the positives from a not-so-lovely situation. I really enjoyed reading this and that picture of you and your little bundle of joy/baby boy is so cute…. Great post x!

What a beautiful list! Your family is definitely a huge treasure!
I hope 2021 is a joyful year for you 🙂
Thank you, yes family are so precious. Especially now I have a little one of my own! You too lovely!
In 2020, I was so thankful that the world slowed down! I kept feeling like I was running out of time. In 2021, I’m learning to. trust the process more 🙂 Congratulations on the birth of your baby! How beautiful x
I felt the same, time seemed to fly by so quickly so really being able to slow down felt amazing in some ways. I truly believe things happen for a reason, I suppose that’s where I get some of my positivity from x
Congratulations on your baby boy, you two look cosy and cute in the picture! I was truly grateful we had time to slow down and put things back into perspective instead of running just on routine. I hope this year will bring you even more joys and time with your family. Thanks for sharing x
Thank you, it was a freezing cold day but having the sunshine made it such an enjoyable walk! It’s amazing how much slowing down really makes. Yeah I’m excited to spend lots more time as a family but also crave a bit of normality too x
