You might have noticed I took a little break from blogging at the beginning of this month, if you follow me on Instagram you would know why. I went away with my family to Turkey and decided to take a mini break from uploading. we still filmed loads of content and took loads of photos, so look out for great content in the coming weeks.
You might have noticed on Instagram my outfit photos look very different to normal and that’s mainly down to the fact my brother took most of the photographs. My brother concentrated on Portraits and shoots on a Canon 5D MKII so it was really fun having him take some of my outfits photos for me. I ended up having my brother and husband following me around with a ton of camera equipment, people must of thought I was a bit weird.
So on to the outfits I wore. When I am on holiday my main aim is to be comfortable and as cool as possible, especially as it was 34 degrees outside. I always grab some shorts and a t-shirt but this year I wanted to switch it up a bit. This year has been about stepping outside of my comfort zone and I have been enjoying it so much, so I thought I would do the same on holiday. It took a bit of planning to work out what outfits I wanted to wear, depending on the surroundings, but i think the photographs are so worth it.
Play with Natural Light
One of the places we visited was in a little restaurant in the middle of nowhere, perched on the edge of a valley, and it was one of the most peaceful places I have ever been. We spent about 2 hours there munching through a massive Turkish breakfast enjoying the stunning views around us. The restaurant has a wooden planked roof for shade, which made for a very dramatic lighting effect when we shoot my outfit photos.
For this outfits I decided to pair quite a structured orange top and distressed denim shorts against the rolling hills. As these photographs where short on a 50mm lens the background looks very soft and blurred. This really allows for the orange top and dramatic lighting to catch your eye and create a dramatic look. For me a really interesting portrait/outfit photo with a clear line of view to the model and the outfit.
Contrasts of Outfit to Surrounding
This photograph is a lot more relaxed in the sense that the lighting was a lot softer, as it was taken early evening, and I was sitting on rocks. This is a completely different look with a soft white t-shirt and a flowing monochrome skirt against the harsh rocks surrounding me. This photograph again was take on a 50mm lens but because I am sitting down the foreground is in focus and the tree behind are then blurred. Silver and Rose Gold is used to add an accent colour to the outfit.
I have loved experimenting with my outfit photos this holiday and having my brother Mike Hannam taking photos was a dream. We have a few more holidays booked this year including Iceland, which I am so excited for, so I can’t wait to take photos of new exciting locations.
If you want to see some more photographs from my brother then his instagram handle name is @mike_hannam. I have also just uploaded a Summer Lookbook on my Youtube channel, which has three outfits from Turkey, so make sure to check that out if you want to see these outfits in more detail.
Have a lovely rest of your Bank Holiday!
